Kuopio was cool!
For a moment it seemed I wouldn’t be playing there at all – my flight from Berlin was delayed so badly that I missed the connecting (and last) flight from Helsinki to Kuopio. And due to quite nasty airline regulations my return flight from Kuopio back to Helsinki was cancelled, too.
Luckily there still was one train leaving from Helsinki to Kuopio. Finally after 12 hours of travelling I reached Puijonsarvi and got to the decks three minutes before my set started. Phew…
But it was worth the travel. Alijas had warmed up the place really nicely and it was cool seeing Kuopio go mad to proper electronic music. The highlights for me were Kobana’s & Yane3dots’ new track Woosh, Madeon’s Icarus and Nuta Cookier’s Maschine Groove (Marco Bailey & Tom Hades Remix). It was a nice surprise to see how well technoish sound went down, too. Playing Marco Bailey, Kaiserdisco and Timo Maas for hands-in-the-air Kuopio crowd was unexpected, but awesome.
Orkidea ended the night with nice 2h selection of his own tunes. The new album tunes went down well and it was great to hear a couple of classics like original mix of Unity and Requiem.
Brilliant night, excellent & enthusiastic crowd (Thank You!!) and a long, long trip back home after 1,5h of sleep ;)

Maaliskuun perjantait startataan YleX:llä harvinaisella DJ-setillä. Jose Padilla, legendaarinen baleaarisen musiikin kummisetä ja mies alkuperäisten Cafe Del Mar -kokoelmien taustalta antoi YleX:lle haastattelun ja pyöräytti kasaan XmiXin eksklusiivisesti suomalaisia kuuntelijoitaan varten. Jose Padilla on tähdittämässä Pacifique-allasbileitä Espoon Serenassa 09.03.-10.03.
DJ Orionin ensimmäisellä tunnilla soitossa mm. kahdeksan vuoden tauolta palannutta Orbitalia, tuoreet sinkut Above&Beyondilta ja Paul van Dykilta sekä Prodigya remiksattuna. Suomalaisista uutta musiikkia tarjoilevat Joonas Hahmo, Hemo DJs sekä Audile. Lisäksi kuullaan kaikkien aikojen Pacifique-klassikko.
Ohjelma on kuultavissa jälkikäteen Ylen Areenalla viikon ajan.

Helmikuun perjantaitansseissa liikutaan uuden musiikin kintereillä jälleen discommasta housesta tranceen, dubsteppiin ja drum’n’bassiin. DJ Orionin ensimmäisellä tunnilla uudet rytmit tarjoilevat Daft Punk, Ralphie B, Nero, Rusko, Sigma, Way Out West ja suomalaisista Super8&Tab, Kajis, Lenno, Rico Tubbs & Will Power ja Orion & J.Shore. Lisäksi matkassa myös Barbra Streisand, Viikon Uutuus sekä 90-luvun rave-vuosilta kuultava Viikon Vinyyli.
Toisella tunnilla soittimissa on kiinni pitkän linjan tanssimusiikkiartisti ja -tuottaja K-System. Jo 12 vuotta keikkalavoja kiertänyt herra pyöräytti YleX:ää varten tunnin mittaisen näytteen, miltä K-System tänä päivänä kuulostaa. DJ Orion @ YleX – 10.02.2012 – XmiX: Syna
YleX:n perjantai-illan XmiX suuntaa eteenpäin trance-vaihteella. Perjantaina 10.2. levysoittimiin tarttuu huikeassa nosteessa oleva seinäjokelainen trance-trio Syna, jonka jäsenistä koostuvat myös Deck Jagger ja Timo Juuti & Hector87 -kokoonpanot. Paul Oakenfoldin kokoelmalle äskeittäin signattu Syna purkitti YleX:ää varten tunnin eksklusiivisen miksauksen, jossa kuullaan mm. uusi XmiXiä varten tehty “Teched”-nimeä kantava raita sekä vielä julkaisematon remix DJ Orkidean “Streching Time” -kappaleesta. Myös Dmitri oli innoissaan Synan XmiX-vierailusta.
DJ Orionin ensimmäisellä tunnilla laitetaan pystyyn Pacifique-kilpailu, jossa on jaossa 4 lippua loppuunmyytyihin kylpyläbileisiin Espoon Serenaan. Lisäksi Suomen ensi-illassa mm. Alex Kunnarin uusi raita ja Tom Fallin tuore remix, ja katsauksessa L.A.O.Sin debyyttialbumin ensimmäinen sinkku sekä Rinneradion tuleva albumi. Viikon Vinyylin myötä palataan jälleen kultaisen 90-luvun rave-vuosiin.
