Slusnik Luna – Sun 2011 (DJ Orion & J Shore Remix) by Anjunabeats

You can never have too much of a good thing. Following Slusnik Luna’s superb ‘2011’ and the much-loved 4 Strings remix, we have a bumper package of ‘Sun 2011’ remixes – each adding their own individual slant to this updated classic.

First up, though is the legendary track that inspired all these updates – the original ‘Sun’ anthem from 2000. Regarded by many as one of the most legendary trance tracks of all time, for those that missed out on Slusnik Luna’s original ‘Sun’ anthem (which actually made the UK top 40 pop charts back in the day), it’s here in all its uplifting, bleepy glory.

The bouncy, electronic house rework from Joonas Hahmo is an upbeat rework that captures the original’s uplifting elements in a fresh, Ibiza-ready groove.

Resident at UK trance bastion Passion, upcoming producer Genix takes things into darker, deeper territory with his gnarly, innovative rework – full of worming bass grooves and sneaky melody snippets.

Rising Finnish star Heikki L turns in a progressive-tweaked electro-trance powerhouse, while DJ Orion & J Shore recruit some live strings for their elegant and gloriously slo-mo chill-out reinterpretation – a beautiful, alternative listening experience.

Chris Coco writes about his Finland experience

It seems Chris Coco had some great time visiting Pacifique Maupiti 2011 last weekend. Check his long blog post about the visit and some great photos.

Then bang, summer again, same as yesterday, like a movie on loop, like a dream on repeat. But this time there’s a different energy, more everything, more atmosphere, more air and water, more bodies splashing and tumbling, and it’s hard to shoot because it’s dark and the bodies keep moving, just bodies on bodies like some medieval vision of heaven or hell, but in this case it’s closer to heaven. And if you stand right you can still see the ski slope outside in the dark, and the piles of snow and you can laugh at the beautiful absurdity of it all. This place. This glorious party. This wonderful life.

Perjantaina 4.3. YleX:n illassa biisivieraana Pacifiquen päätähti Chris Coco, soitossa uusi Tom Fallin sinkku Untouchable, uusi Hybrid-sinkkulohkaisu ja Viikon Vinyyli vuodelta 2002. Suomalaisista soitossa Bright Shades, Lenno ja Jesse Oliver, ulkomaisista lautasilla Myon & Shane54, Wippenberg, Fedde Le Grand, Chase & Status, Arkia ja osuvan nimen valinnut Mord Fustang.

Viikon XmiXissä kuullaan tunnin verran Suomen aamubileiden ehdotonta ykkösnimeä, Paul Easya. Nykyään Berliinissä asuva, mutta ahkerasti Suomen päässä keikkaileva artisti valottaa Helsingin aamubilekulttuuria ja pyöräyttää tunnin miksauksen tuoreinta tech-housea ja teknoa.

Ohjelma on kuultavissa jälkikäteen Ylen Areenalla viikon ajan.

Pacifique Maupiti and After Showers this weekend.

This weekend will be one of the most waited ones this spring. The annual Pacifique event will fill up Serena water park in Espoo for the whole weekend as a two-day event. Balearic superhero Chris Coco will be headlining (You can catch Chris Coco also on my YleX show next Friday 4.3.2011 after 22:00) and four stages are filled with state-of-the-art Finnish artists. Check the full lineup on Pacifique website. I’ll be warming up Chris Coco on both days on the main stage at 22:00-23:00.

After the Friday’s event I’ll be joining the fun at Pacifique’s Unofficial “After Showers” at Playground. Hosted by beloved Paul Easy (who’s delivering a fine one hour mix as YleX XmiX artist this Friday at 23:00 on YleX), the afterparty starts at 05:00 and goes on until midday. Phew.

Perjantaina 25.2. YleX:n illassa Suomi-edustuksessa viime viikolla XmiX-artistina toiminut Something Good, uusintasoitossa Joonas Hahmo, Lovetone uudella kollaboraatioraidallaan Turismon kanssa, Michael Cassetten tuleva julkaisu sekä materiaalia kotkalaiselta Our Stolen Theory -triolta, josta biisivieraana kertomassa lisää Pekko Haimi. Lisäksi lautasilla Maor Levi, Dinka, SHato ja Viikon Vinyyli vuodelta 1995.

Viikon XmiXissä kuullaan erittäin eksklusiivinen tunnin livenauhoitus viime perjantain Smoldering City -tapahtumasta Turusta, jossa nähtiin legendaariset Danny Howells sekä Nick Warren. Livenauhoite on Danny Howellsin setistä. Herraa ei valitettavasti tavoitettu haastatteluun, mutta progekuulumisia on kartoittamassa illan warm-up -DJinä toiminut Homegrove.
