DJ Orion & J.Shore – Goodbye Earth EP

By UncategorizedNo Comments

Here’s a preview of our brand new chill-out EP, called “Goodbye Earth”. It’s cinematic, melancholic and full of memories of the past summer, exactly how we prefer our chill-out music :)

My brother J.Shore made some amazing and hard work here with recording live strings + winds for the first track “Your Highness” and the second, “Deep Blue”. All the tracks were made during June 2009 in Tampere and finalized in Germany one month later.

Homegrove (promo pic)

Tiistain Tanssi-illassa 18.08.2009 palataan kesätauon jälkeen biisivieraiden pariin. Ensimmäisenä mikrofoniin tarttuu raumalainen pitkän linjan DJ Homegrove, jolta kuullaan jo keväästä asti herran soitossa ollut ekslusiivinen Depeche Mode -remix sekä tietysti viimeisimmät kuulumiset proge- ja teknopuolen keikkarintamalta.

Musapuolella kuullaan uutta tuotantoa Sashalta, Gareth Emerylta, David Guettalta ja Sebastian Ingrossolta sekä tulevia julkaisuja Sultan & Ned Sheperdilta, David Westilta, Sami Saarelta ja Majeralta. Lisäksi viikon vinyyli ja musauutiset.

Brotherhood signed to Lost Language

By UncategorizedNo Comments

Lost Language logo

Happy news. The legendary trance label, Lost Language, has signed my second single Brotherhood.

I’m really excited of the possibility of getting Brotherhood released on that particular label. It’s one of my all-time favourite trance labels which released amazing tunes already in the early 2000. The label was originally a parent label of Hooj Choons and led by Ben Lost, but it works independently today.

Some of my personal Lost Language highlights are Solarstone’s Seven Cities, Salt Tank’s Eugina, Barraka’s Song To A Siren, Lustral’s Broken, Midway’s Monkey Forest, Tilt’s The World Doesn’t Know and many, many more.

DJ Orion & J.Shore – Brotherhood will be out in November 2009 on Lost Language including remixes from Ayleon, Flight & Jontey, DJ Taucher and Anton Sonin. Listen to the clips and read more.

Dave Seaman – the last compilation?

By UncategorizedNo Comments

Interesting thoughts about compilation making from Dave Seaman:

“So, after several painstaking weeks, the endurance test that was the making of my new mix CD is finally over. Yes, my 26th compilation, Renaissance Masters Series Volume 14 is finished and due for release on September 28th but to be honest, I think it may well be my last. It’s such a time consuming process these days, dogged by licensing issues and digital rights restrictions, not to mention the fact that trying to make an album four months in advance that still feels ‘new’ when it’s released is increasingly difficult. Consequently, the allure of just doing regular free podcasts grows ever more appealing. But we shall see. For now, I’m just enjoying the fact that this one is done. I hope you enjoy it too.”

Sunburn 2009 review

By UncategorizedNo Comments

Despite the cloudier and more rainy weather than I expected, the atmosphere in Kalajoki was still the same as every year: Loads of smiling, open-minded people with a good sense for good electronic music. You could still see the last red and orange colours of the sunset above the sea in the horizon from the open windows of the club when I started – really a beautiful, classic view – and an unique one, at least in Finland.

I started with a bit more techier/tech-housier tracks like Mason’s Kippschwinger and Sander Kleinenberg’s This Is Our Night and headed towards more proggy & trancey vibes. Both Ayleon’s and Flight&Jontey’s remix of my upcoming Brotherhood track went down really well, Kyau&Albert’s new track “Grrreat” got a really good response and for the full Sunburn experience some Sun was needed, this time from Slusnik Luna, which was probably the track of the night.

A big hand for the audience and the Dyyni staff, you’re the best – it was really a pleasure visiting Kalajoki again. And biggg thank-yous to DJ Kaasi – it seems to the time spent together never fails to be entertaining and full of fun :)

Last Saturday at Parktheater, Kempten was brilliant. It was good to get to know the whole club staff who were down-to-earth and really nice people. The club seems to be run with a really relaxed mood and the same vibe is also on the dance floor.

Alfredo warmed up the place really nicely and it was easy to get going with a bit more tech-housey vibe, then through melodic and proghouse to a couple electroish house tracks in the end. What comes to the tracks, Mark Mendes’ version of Gypsy Woman rocked the place as well as Chris Lake’s La Tromba, Mason’s Kippschwinger and crazy club edit of Lee Coombs’ Right Now. I was happy to see our remix of Viva La Vida go down really well and Sami Saari’s version’s of One Sunday + our mash-up of Chase the Sun & Where Are You Now got some hands in the air, too :)

Big thanks to Alfredo, Julian, Hannes, Micha, Herbie for all the fun and superb hosting & all the crowd for the awesome party :)

Below are some photos and a very short video (thanks to Michael for shooting the clips:)

Gute Laune.

Weekend in Tampere & Kalajoki

By UncategorizedNo Comments

On the upcoming weekend I’m playing my last gigs before a short paternity leave. On Friday I’ll be heading to Tampere to Club Play, a summer club running at Apollo. It’s been a while that I’ve played a house set in Tampere and I’m really looking forward to this. My slot should be starting around midnight.

On Saturday I’ll fly to Kalajoki to headline the local Sunburn event, one of the longest running summer club concepts in Northern Finland. I’ve lost my count if this is already the 6th or 7th year in a row I’m visiting Kalajoki in the summer, but it definitely hasn’t lost its vibe. Kalajoki – as mentioned numerous times before – is the “Ibiza of Finland” and the venue, Dyyni, is easily among the coolest clubs in the north with a panorama view to the sea and the whole building standing on a huge sand dune. The house music maestro of the north, DJ Kaasi will be doing the warm-up and I’ll be playing a 2-2,5h set in the end of the night. See the video from last year’s party below or check some photos from the past years.
