Alex Kunnari Tiistain Tanssi-illan biisivieraana
Tiistain Tanssi-illan ensimmäisellä tunnilla 31.3. biisivieraana kuullaan Colors-klubin ja -festivaalin isäntä Alex Kunnaria. Kunnari on lyönyt läpi tranceDJinä lukuisten hittien myötä, joista Suomessa muistetaan varmimmin miehen soolodebyytti Lifter. Kunnarin biisivierasosuudella kuullaan radioensi-iltansa saava vastavalmistunut uusi vokaaliraita Eternity.

Lauantaipäivänä 30. toukokuuta Lasipalatsin aukiolla pidetään ilmaiskonsertti, jossa nähdään Samae Koskinen & Hänen Taikabändinsä, Risto, The Capital Beat ja uuden Kesäkumibiisin esittäjä. Konsertin juontavat YleX:n Marja Hintikka ja Ile Uusivuori.

Happy news. After my debut release One Sunday, the next release is already in sight. Russia-based artist Mango had heard Brotherhood and asked me and my brother to remix his next track, Raining in Osaka. I felt really priviledged as Mango is one of my favourite progressive house artists with absolutely fantastic soundscapes, very fragile and incredibly beautiful tracks. I really recommend checking his work if you haven’t already.
During the past weekend, before and after the latest One event, my brother and I put together Raining in Osaka chill-out remix, which I still tweaked on in Helsinki. After I played the first version to Mango, the things changed a bit and we ended up making a collab track of the original version, too. This original mix among the remixes will be out in late April 2009 and the chill-out version will see the daylight in October 2009 on Mango Alley Recordings sampler. The full length chill-out remix can be heard above.

“Tampere-fiilis” was a late 90’s phenomena in Tampere, purely born in local trance events when melodic trance was at its peak and rave culture enjoyed high popularity. I remember events like Taika ’98 in which people were dancing spontaniously hand-in-hand, club Tunnel with Coma and 3.14Sami spinning in an old, small rock club to 200+ clubbers every second Thursday, everybody going mental. I hope I haven’t become cynical when claiming that nearly a decade has passed in Tampere without any similar feeling of regular PLUR ;)
ONE has succeeded in something that felt like an impossible task a couple of years ago. It seemed that you couldn’t attract any audience without bringing bigger and bigger foreign acts even though it was just the fun and good atmosphere people were after. Saturday night at Tanssitalo, with hundreds and hundreds of people going insane and a lineup consisting of only former and current Tampere talents proved that you don’t need any foreign acts to get loose. Just a club full of your best friends and a long lost Tampere-fiilis :)
After a night like that, I can’t wait to get back to Tanssitalo. See you at the next One, on 30.5.2009.

After the winter break, One returns this weekend at Tampere’s Tanssitalo. With Joonas Hahmo and Poliisi headlining and me and Flight taking care of the regular One sounds, it sounds like a good start to 2009. One is having only two events this spring in Tanssitalo, the second being the official summer starter on 30.5.2009. On that day Tampere will go trancey in the hands of a Armada talent from Denmark and another bunch of domestic jocks. But first – looking forward to see you this Saturday! (See the Facebook event.)

Hey Nick ! You are almost here with us again… How do you feel about coming to Helsinki this weekend ?
“I always love coming to Helsinki, the clubs and crowds there are always fantastic and as I have a Finnish girlfriend it almost feels like home”
You are playing at Redrum, the countries leading underground venue. Any expectations?
“I went there last year to see Loco Dice and really liked the place so can’t wait to spin there”
What’s the most fun you have had in Finland ?
“Petra and I rented a summer cottage a couple of years ago, I loved the peace and beauty of Finland”
Global Underground Lima is your 8th GU compilation… Which one of the eight is your personal favorite ?
“I think Lima is my best one so far, I am very happy with it”
Who would you like to see doing a Global Underground ? (someone that still hasn’t)
“I would love to hear a Gui Boratto GU album, I am a big fan of his work”
The amount of music out there is bigger then ever. But there are still only 24 hours a day. Do you think you listen to more music today, than let’s say 10 years ago ?
“Much more, especially as so much comes via the internet and you can listen at your laptop”
We hear the new Way Out West album is almost done… What was your goal, when planning the album ?
“The album should be finished by the time I come to Helsinki! Jody and I are very pleased with the way it sounds, it ranges from chillout to techno and has some male vocals. I will play some of the tracks at Redrum”
You have practically travelled the whole world. If you ever retire, where would you settle down ?
“I would love to live the in England for part of the year and in Finland in the summer”

Saksalainen Tomcraft saapuu Tiistain Tanssi-illan biisivieraaksi 17.3.2009. Viime syyskuussa ensimmäisen kerran Helsingin tanssilattioita lämmittänyt Tomcraft tunnetaan parhaiten takavuosien hitistään “Loneliness”, mutta viime vuodet ovat vieneet miestä teknomman soundin suuntaan. Tomcraft esiintyy Great Stuff -levymerkin 5-vuotiskiertueella myös Helsingin Playgroundissa 9.4.2009. One of my all-time favourite DJs, Tom Middleton, arrives to Helsinki on 12.6.2009.
Not only is Tom the man behind Cosmos, but also responsible of amazing “Lifetracks” chill-out album and “Global Communication” works, both of them just timeless. But it’s house music he’s playing, and what comes to that, his Renaissance 3D compilation and The Sound of the Cosmos are worth checking. Really looking forward to this.
