Wired Magazine published an article about the Roots of Techno and interviewed – who else than – Juan Atkins.

“I think “techno” is a term to describe and introduce all kinds of electronic music. In fact, there were a lot of electronic musicians around when Cybotron started, andI think maybe half of them referred to their music as “techno.” However, the public really wasn’t ready for it until about ’85 or ’86. It just so happened that Detroit was there when people really got into it. “

Luomo article

Good article about Luomo, with stuff of which I had no clue. For example this:

“Nonetheless, the [drug related] lifestyle had serious repercussions. Canceled tours, jail time, and failed relationships were nothing compared to suffering two heart attacks in his early 20s, which resulted in two serious heart operations that remain a low point in his life.”

Visiting Teosto

I’ll be visiting Teosto (Finnish equivalent to RIAA, roughly speaking) next Monday morning. Me and Miika Kuisma were invited to talk about the possible changes to their DJ licensing policy and to update their knowledge of today’s electronic music culture. Excited? Yes.

I’ve gone through loads to critical posts I’ve written in the past, polished arguments and written stuff down. Still, I’m very very open to all the comments or greetings all you electronic music lovers have. Feel free to drop any thoughts to the comment box below.

Viva La Vida remixed.

Greetings from Tampere. It’s Saturday evening and I just got back from the Hatanpää studios. After a long day, Flight & Jontey and I got a remix of Coldplay’s Viva La Vida pretty finished (see the video below for the original).

It still needs some polishing and tweaking, but I’m super excited of the result. It’s a prog-housey, groovy eight-minute tune with three breakdowns, three different basslines and a fresh structure combining several layers of strings with vocals of Chris Martin.

I’ll post a clip or two to this blog soonish. Viva La Vida!

Danceblogga lists a very strong selection of important LPs of electronic music. If you have Spotify, I recommend to add all of those you can find to a single playlist and press play. Pure bliss for a day or two.

“Yep, we’ve got one. And it is..’We Love Machine’. Mix downs still going very well, there is an end in sight. There’ll be a Youtube promo up of one of the tracks in the next couple of weeks so we’ll let you know once it’s ready to go.
