This Friday & Saturday Spinni-organization’s 10th Anniversary Party takes over I-klubi, a legendary club venue nearby the centrum of Tampere. Many of my finest moments in the late 90’s techno scene are located there – and I guess many others could agree…
Who still remembers MIR, Taika, Dawn and many, many more…?
I have no idea how the organizers managed to get the authorization for their parties until 07 or 09 at that time – as far as I remember, alcohol was sold until 03:30 and then the party just kept on going. Quite impossible these days.
Spinni’s party will be more or less a look back to the past. I’ll be warming up Peak Twins’ Live set on Saturday and – I have to admit – I’ve been browsing through my records anxiously to get a bag-full of Tampere-anthems with me. I’ve been selecting tracks which were BIG 5-10 years ago – not too obvious classics, but records which made it all work at the time when Tampere-fiilis was at its peak.
>>> Spinni10 website.
Feel free to tune in to Bassoradio frequency today at 18-20 Finnish time. Also web stream available.
A remix of Tilt’s “I Dream” got nearly finished last weekend. Here’s a short clip of what’s coming up next:
Tilt – I Dream (DJ Orion remix)
Snare Rush Collage.
Weird collage of clips and videos from the past…
You got to love this YouTube-quality… :P Here’s a link to a better quality mp4-file => download (38mb).
And finally a peek to the iTunes Music Folder.
Quite a nice way to present one’s musical taste in a visual way.
BIO UPDATE
First of all, there are two updates of the website. Biography is again back up-to-date and a bit wider than the former version.

Video:
Yhä useampi DJ on viime aikoina siirtynyt tukemaan yhä enemmän MP3-formaattia musiikkia ostaessaan.
Yhtenä argumenttina MP3-formaattiin siirtymiselle on monen DJ:n kohdalla tarjonnan laajuus.
Kuten Mr.A Plastic Fantastic -levykaupan sulkemiseen kommentoidessaan kirjoitti, levykauppojen ja -hyllyjen selaaminen on olennainen osa DJ:n ammattia.

Teosto & Gramex Suck On This
Updated version of EBTG – Missing (Orion’s Lost and Found remix) is now available. The sound should be slightly better and more clear now, some minor changes to guitars and effects done, too.
The previous version was already supposed to be the final, so this one definitely is ;)
Download EBTG – Missing (Orion’s Lost and Found remix) here.
Here’s the 15 year old clip from DMC World DJ Championships, Finnish DJ Eliot Ness performing.

Did you already check the video of the Human Turntable?
OK, this clip is just a teaser. Tomorrow morning I’m going to upload another DMC-clip: 15 years ago, in 1991, Finnish DJ Eliot Ness made it to the third place in DMC World DJ Championships. With some help from DJ Kaasi, I hunted down a clip from his performance. The tricks are quite stunning, I must say.
But before Mr. Eliot’s clip, here’s the famous Human Turntable trick. Stay tuned.
Denis Vakulin, aka DJ DNA seems to have a new website.
And Tero Civill, aka DJ Coma opened his virtual lounge as well. Mr. Coma also offers two tracks for download:
Tero Civill – The Message
Tero Civill – Watching You
Check Tero’s Audio page for full track descriptions.
You’re listening to a radio channel, DJ-set or podcast and hear a song which you definitely want to have. What do you do?
Far too many people trust on P2P programs when they want to find a track which is simply just too good. They download it illegally, because it’s easy and free – but also because they don’t know (or care) how to get it otherwise.
DJs are a part of music marketing, you can’t deny that. They know where to buy the best tracks, they know how to find good music legally, they know how to hear about the new music which hasn’t even gotten on the charts. So why wouldn’t they share this knowledge?
At the moment DJs are just writing their TOP20-charts for two purposes: to show the promoters that they are active and they should be booked AND to show the other DJs that they have tracks which the other DJs do not have. Still – too often I hear on the clubs some clubber asking the question: “This is so cool music – where can you buy this kind of stuff?”
Now – why wouldn’t DJs also write their charts for the music freakz who would just die to get to listen the Top20 Chart tracks at home? It would be good promotion for the electronic music, it would keep it alive. And it would be good promotion for the DJ – the more people would come to his website and actually get to HEAR the music alongside all this namedropping, the more discussion there would be around the DJ him/herself. And this discussion (read: publicity) is what all these disc jockeys want, right?
Now how would this happen? Simple. Just by linking the chart tunes to the shops where they are available.
I’ll be writing my new Top Choices chart soon here and adding the links where these records are available to buy. Maybe it helps you to find better music and more importantly – better sources of good music.
Oh, quite a nice way to combine effective music promotion, DJ-mixes and podcast is Beatport’s podcast. Subscribe and listen, you’ll see why.
If you’re living in Andorra or Spain, tune your radio to Proxima.fm station on Saturday 10.6. at 01AM local time. The station will air one of my mixes for the South European music freaks. Tune in.
Missing bootleg remix got finished last night. The result is a 8min long rolling and growling breakbeat tune.
Got some priceless help from my friends – big thank-yous to my brother Joonas for the midi-madness and to Jussi for the Bass. And not to forget you who listened and evaluated the preview-versions – thanks for the patience :)
