On the upcoming episode of the podcast:
DJ Orkidea’s 30min oldskool live recording from Beatbox radio show back in 1994. Very rave and – needless to say – rare.
No Torture Here beta website is now up and running.
The idea is simple: Your task is to declare a location to be torture free. At first you download and print the “No Torture Here” flag. Then you go to some location, plant your flag and take a picture or video of the event. Back in your computer you upload your picture and video to flickr, youtube (or where ever), come back to the No torture here site and locate your flag to the Google map in the site.
Nick’s visit to Danceteria’s 2 year anniversary was great. Excellent set, loads of new tracks and some classics. Friday was also the day when smoking (finally) got prohibited in Finnish bars and restaurants. Nick showed a good example and didn’t smoke – at least in front of the crowd.. (see the video below)
Romance was awesome, big thanks to Flight & Link for making such an effort. It really seems Tampere is raising its head as a quality clubbing city after several year of just (semi-)successful one-offs. After Miau! quitted, Tampere has lacked a regular, well advertised and hi-quality club – until now.
Romance seemed to bring back tiny fraction of the original Tampere-fiilis and showed that organizing a club isn’t just printing flyers and booking a venue & deejays.
Roses, heart-shaped pieces of chocolate, cake, candles, “Afterdate” afterparty and this whole wordplay around “Commence your Romance” really worked. People were excited :)
Some videos below.
Paul Oakenfold is set to spin with the backing of a full orchestra behind him. Oakie will be performing with the Boston Pops.
He’s supposed to perform a live remix of music by Los Angeles composer Felix Brenner with the Boston Pops accompanying the DJ by playing sections of the arrangement, Reuters reported.

Take a look at this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uebfgpEdsBU
And then a photo which I took on a gig in Sotkamo, Finland:
It’s funny how some people still think that everything that can be downloaded from internet can also be re-used for their own purposes. The photo has been protected with Creative Commons license, which (in this case) means that the photo can be copied, distributed and transmitted, BUT only with the permission of the author.
I love giving my works forward for non-commercial projects for free. It’s always good if they spread around – and not rotten on my Flickr account – and people make the most out of them. But I definitely want to know when that happens. And I want to see clear links to my website and see the works used in a proper manner.
Well, of course this isn’t anything like Rebecca’s case, but it still sure pisses me off.

After a very long time I came up with a flyer which made me look twice. This digital copy looks a bit lame, but a paper version really rocks. No glossy paper, no spot colours or fancy fonts. Just a cool idea and very good looking graphics. Definitely the flyer of the month. I’m happy people still make stuff like this.

Pikseliavaruudessa seikkaileva DESERT PLANET -yhtye julkaisee Suomen
Puikolla vierailee japanilainen cyber punk kirjailija Kenji Siratori.
Siratorin visioihin voi tutustua http://www.kenjisiratori.com
Uutta musiikkia voi ladata ja näytteitä multimediasta voi ihastella

I’ll be spending this week in beautiful Tallinn, just 100 minutes away from Helsinki. Even though it’s not going to be as exotic as the previous trip, it’s still fun to be on the road.

edit: Agh, forgot my camera USB cable home. Got to find another cable or no real time Flickr fun.
