Ten Years of Techmu, Kouvola

By GigsNo Comments

Kiksukissa:

Kouvola rocked. Call me an old fart, but I just love these 10 year anniversaries. It was a good excuse to pack in all the old trance and techno classics. Not only the obvious ones, but the tracks which you’ve loved for a decade already.

I hadn’t planned to play these 2000+ tracks that many, but I was surprised that for example U Know Y worked much better than Lost Soul Society. Maybe the majority of the audience hadn’t been there for ten years yet.

However, the end of the night proved (once again) that techno is still timeless. Period. Great party, very good feeling and nice people. Here’s the tracklist:

Orion @ Ten Years of Techmu 02:00-03:30

Faithless – Salva Mea (Sister Bliss remix)
Ambassador – The Fade (Fade mix)
Armin – Lost Soul Society
PvD vs BT – Namastai
Moguai – U Know Y (Starecase remix)
Tilt – Children
Kayashi – Furyo (Tevendales Tunnel Mix)
Midway – Monkey Forest
Olive – You’re Not Alone (Oakenfold & Osbourne remix)
Tiesto & Junkie XL – Obsession (Frank Biazzi remix)
Bryan Zentz – D-Clash
Jeff Mills – The Bells
Dave Clarke pres. Red Three – Storm
Thomas Krome – Woodcarver’s Nightmare
Hertz – Recreate (Montana re-edit)

Mauro Picotto – Hong Kong

Uudistunut Rose Garden

By UncategorizedNo Comments

Rose Garden uusii huhtikuun aikana ilmeensä, linjauksensa ja tarjontansa. Uusin Rose-lehti lupailee seuraavaa:

I joined Jaiku. Jaiku is like Twitter. It’s just Finnish. And better (also for other reasons;).

Even though the original or the main idea of Jaiku – blogging (or writing Jaikus) from everywhere, letting people know where you are and what you do – does not interest me too much, there’s still something very useful: bringing all your rss-feeds together.

So basically, by subscribing to the Jaiku feed of mine, you’ll get not only the latest Flickr photos and Youtube videos from my accounts to your feed reader but also the latest blog entries and the podcasts, too. No more lame, useless browsing :)

Here’s my Jaiku feed: http://orion.jaiku.com/feed/rss
And the site itself here: http://orion.jaiku.com

Go, give a try. And if not, don’t worry, the old feed of this blog and other services will remain unchanged.

Apple starts to sell DRM free music on iTunes.

“EMI and iTunes are once again teaming up to move the digital music industry forward by giving music fans higher quality audio that is virtually indistinguishable from the original recordings, with no usage restrictions on the music they love from their favorite artists,” said Eric Nicoli, CEO of EMI Group.

[…]

iTunes will also offer customers a simple, one-click option to easily upgrade their entire library of all previously purchased EMI content to the higher quality DRM-free format for 30 cents a song. All EMI music videos will also be available in DRM-free format with no change in price.

Little by little music corporations are starting to find out that the best media publicity comes by serving their customers. That must be such a surprise… ;)

Jimmy van M interview.

“My definition of progressive is music that you don’t know why but it always makes you feel good in a certain way. I think that’s happening in a lot of music right now. To me, that’s all progressive music. It doesn’t have to be arpeggiated synths with a droned out bassline.”

“I think a good DJ is someone who can play the same records that everyone else has in a way that no one else will. At the end of the day it’s about creating that moment with a certain record that characterises you. Only certain people can do it.”

Berliner trance

While waiting for the Hytky techno documentary festival, have 25 well spent minutes and watch an old, classic Berliner Trance documentary. See the description:

“This lost classic, shot on 16mm in a wintry Berlin in 1993, explores the origins of the now monumentally massive German Trance and Dance music scene.

With interviews with luminaries such as Dr Motte, Paul van Dyk, Laurent Garnier, Paul Browse, Mijk van Dijk and MFS label supremo Mr Mark Reeder this now legendary exploration into the underworld of what was the most significant force in driving dance music forward in the 20th century. It contains rare early footage of the 1991 and 1993 Love Parade, and of the now bulldozed Mutoid Waste Company land, E-Werk and Tresor – Berlin’s legendary (and now closed) clubs that started it all in the former East Berlin.

Directed by Ben Hardyment, this documentary is imbued with an uplifting and extremely positive energy – there are rumours of a film sequel in the pipeline, but for now, sit back and enjoy 25 minutes of pure trance music history.”
