Joining my fellow techno people on both Saturday and Sunday after parties @ Venue on 28.7. and 29.7. Hope to see you there, too. And there’s still Monday morning left for all you super endurance ravers. Teosto kutsuu DJ:t koolle

Sain allaolevan kutsun sähköpostiini tänään tiistaina 17.4.2012. Viime viikonloppuna Gramex ja TTVK yhdessä viranomaistahojen kanssa ratsasi useita ravintoloita Helsingin alueella ja sai jälleen DJ-kunnan varpailleen ja puolustuskannalle. Ville Oksanen ja Tero Uuttana kirjoittivat aiheesta osuvasti.

Nyt näyttäisi siltä, että Teosto ensimmäistä kertaa virallisemmin sanoutuu irti Gramexin ja TTVK:n harjoittamasta toiminnasta ja aloittaa aidon ja monipuolisen yhteistyön DJ-kunnan kanssa lisenssien uudistamisesta ja selkeyttämisestä. Tämä on asia, jota ollaan pikkuhiljaa käynnistelty jo ensimmäisistä Teosto-palavereista lähtien (lue palavereista lisää).

Mikäli koet asian tärkeäksi ja sinulla on aiheeseen liittyviä kehitysideoita, ole hyvä ja lähetä minulle ennen toukokuun alkua sähköpostitse ajatuksesi mahdollisimman jäsenneltyinä. Pidän huolta, että hyvin perustellut ja kehittämiskelpoiset ideat tuodaan Teoston tietoon kyseisessä kokouksessa. Löydät sähköpostiosoitteeni näiltä sivuilta.

Teosto kutsuu koolle DJ-kentän vaikuttajia keskustelemaan alaan liittyvien
lisenssien, toiminnan ja tekijänoikeudellisten kysymysten kehityksestä.
Monet alaa koskevat lisenssit ovat uudistusten tarpeessa, ja tahtoisimme
ottaa sinut mukaan deejistä koostuvaan advisory boardiin ideoimaan tulevaa
kehitystä yhdessä Teoston kanssa.

Ensimmäisessä tapaamisessamme voimme keskustella myös laajalti pahennusta
aiheuttaneista 13.-14.4 Helsingin klubeihin ja ravintoloihin kohdistuneista
TTVK:n ratsiaiskuista. Teosto on halunnut kehittää toimintaansa irti
kyseisten iskujen tapaisesta toiminnasta. Ratsioissa valvottavat lisenssit
ovat osaltaan vanhentuneita sekä epäselkeitä ja eivät vastaa esimerkiksi
dj-toiminnassa yleisesti käytettävää teknologiaa. Keskuteluissa syntyneitä
mietteitä voimme välittää eteenpäin TTVK:n suuntaan.

Tilaisuudessa ovat mukana Teostolta hallituksen puheenjohtaja Kim Kuusi,
viestintä- ja yhteiskuntasuhdejohtaja Tomi Korhonen, musiikkiratkaisujen
avainasiakkuus- ja tuotehallintapäällikkö Jani Jalonen, musiikkiratkaisujen
tuotepäällikkö Anne Varis ja assistentti Taneli Suoranta.

Playground after hours are always worth visiting and being the unofficial Pacifique afterparty, it was pretty clear it’s going to be off the hook. Flink had already the groove on when I arrived and it was easy to continue where he left off. I’ve lately been into a bit more technoish stuff so I left most of the tech-housey tracks off this time and offered some pretty dark and gloomy techno tunes instead. And boy, did they go down well… Brilliant night and awesome crowd. Looking forward to the next visit :)

Busy weekend ahead: 9 Opening, Summer Heat, Sasha XmiX, Tampere Rave City…

This weekend sees the most hectic schedule of the summer of 2011.

Friday: “9 – The Opening” @ Esplanadi, Helsinki

On Friday I’ll take a flight from Berlin to Helsinki to join the private event “9 – The Opening”. UU guys (which you might remember from last year’s UU Island) will be constructing a 400m2 venue on Esplanadi with Open Bar (drinks by Tuukka Ahonen & co.), some 4 hour lounge/house/electronica vibes from me and other surprises. It’s a semi private event, but if you can get an invitation to the Facebook event somewhere, it means you’re in. I still have 10 invitations left – if you want one, mail me your email address (it has to be the same you use for logging to Facebook) and I’ll mail you the invitation. The invitation includes avec.

Friday: Summer Heat, Vanhan YO-talon terassi, Helsinki

Right after UU closes its doors, I’ll head to Vanha. Summer Heat has gained lots of support this summer and is definitely one of the nicest weekly terrace events in Helsinki to check out. It’s not lounging but some seriously fun house music biznezz, grab your dance shoes and join the Gude Laune. I’ll be starting at 01:00. Check the Facebook event for more details.

XmiX: Sasha (UK)

If you can’t make it to the events, make sure to tune in to YleX at 23:00 for a weekly musical journey of XmiX. Sasha – the headliner of Love event in Circus on 23.7. – will be delivering a one hour crazycool XmiX and telling some news (for example about Involver 3) on the interview. In case you can’t check it live, you can always listen to it on Yle Areena on-demand one week after the broadcast.

Saturday: Tampere Rave City

After some 7 hours of DJing on Friday, I’ll take the train to the middle of Tampere-fiilis on this year’s Tammerfest craziness. This time the rave spirit takes over Pyynikin palloiluhalli with danish Funkstar DeLuxe headlining and Finnish Alex Kunnari, Joonas Hahmo, Tremont and me doing the warmup. Sunday?! I have this image before my eyes of sitting totally wrecked on the flight back to Berlin. It seems I have lots to catch up to gain the normal Berlin clubbing endurance.

This Saturday sees my last gig in Finland before moving to Berlin for two years. Yes, it won’t be long before coming back again, actually there are quite a few gigs already confirmed for the end of the summer and the autumn, but I can’t help thinking this as some sort of a farewell party.
And what would be more summery and better place to play the last beats as Finnish resident than the best outdoor summer club in town, Mixxed. Bio Rex terrace combined with music enthusiasts and 100% party people just can’t go wrong. I’ve witnessed the full-on party there when it’s been storming like crazy – and Mixxed is a great example you can really have a perfect summer club concept even though “Finnish summer” isn’t always weather-wise what we’d love to have :)

Busy weekend coming up – XmiX with Proteus, YleXPop and Prima @ JKL

This looks like a weekend worth waiting. Tonight (Friday) we’ll be getting a special treat from Finnish hard dance master Proteus who delivered a superb XmiX combining industrial, hard trance, acid and techno and shared some secrets in a short interview. Tune in to YleX at 22:00. More info here.

On Saturday, YleX festival called YleXPop takes over the centrum of Helsinki spreading to Lasipalatsi square, Tavastia, Bar Loose and Bio Rex. I’ll be hosting the event at Bio Rex together with Chyde from Mestarisoundi and Matti from Parasta Ennen. I’ll be playing between 23:00 and 01:30, mainly in the spirit of the festival and on a housey tip. Here’s the Facebook event of Bio Rex club and the whole festival.

Sunday sees no rest as I’ll be travelling to Jyväskylä where club Prima will be having an official summer starter. Despite being a Sunday night club, I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews (literally!) from their events. It’s been a long while I’ve last visited Jyväskylä and the city really brings back some fine memories. Shouts to Pimiö possé and Anchors Up! events, not to forget long lived Niitty crew. (In case you’re interested, here are some more flyers from Jyväskylä.) I’m really looking forward to see how Jyväskylä is ravin’ in 2011. See Prima Facebook event here.

DANCETERIA presents MADE IN FINLAND PT4 06.05.2011 // HELSINKI

Danceteria never fails. After taking a taxi from Yle studios to DTM and driving through totally empty city I couldn’t help thinking would there be party at all going on in DTM. After all, it was the first Friday after Vappu celebrations and the taxi driver was stating that there’s no one going out tonight.

Well, luckily he was wrong. When I arrived to DTM at 00:30 the floor was full and Something Good was pounding their combination of tech-housey tunes and melodic prog tracks to an enthusiastic crowd. I started off with a bit deeper approach, moved pretty quickly to groovey tech-house tracks and dropped in some technoish numbers. DTM’s sound system is just massive and it was great to see rather minimal but groovy tunes such as Max Bett’s Different Foot make people go nuts. However, the track must have been Kaiserdisco’s brilliant Peak Tram which blew off the roof. Snare rolls are back! :)

Massive thanks to Mr.A who invited me in – it was great to return to Danceteria after such a long pause – and Heikki L, who took care of the end of the night with BIG tunes. Not to forget the people who won their Vappu tiredness and showed up – I couldn’t imagine better and more open-minded crowd as in DTM last night.
