MiscBehaving and One this weekend

As I’m not in Finland on the New Year’s Eve, I consider this weekend the end-of-the-year party. And what a weekend it is! Starting on Friday, the Misc. Management organized event Extremely Miscbehaving takes over Virgin Oil. The night is hosted by DJ Orkidea, Mr.A warms up the floor and the foreign guests include Redanka, the very strong, oldskool and classic progressive talent and SolarStone, the man behind various excellent trance tunes.

On Saturday, SolarStone, Orkidea and me head to Tampere. It’s the season closing night for the local club One, which has grown to be one of the strongest club brands in the area. Flight and Uzu, the guys behind the club have been putting an enormous amount of time and thoughts for the concept and I’ve been happy to see a glimpse of the original Tampere-fiilis and easy-going and happy people always attending.  The opening party was truly memorable and getting Jaytech to play in Tampere was one of my personal highlights of the past autumn. Can’t wait for this Saturday and the upcoming season… :)

Solarstone interview

Dave Dresden. The man from the Gabriel&Dresden fame and a very rare sight on a gig in Europe. Truly a master of music and responsible of several classics like As The Rush Comes and remix of Rachel Starr’s Till There Was You. I’m happy to have him finally in Helsinki.

Joonas Hahmo. One of the most promising Finnish acts, Joonas is definitely the man of the moment. Not playing too often in Helsinki, Joonas takes the final slot to end the night with a style. And yes, good news just in – Joonas will soon perform his first live gig at this year’s Pacifique event.

Infected Mushroom hits Helsinki for the third time this Saturday. The party will be held at Suvilahden Voimala, which has also been the home of Flow Festival in the past years. The main act will be supported by quite a bunch of domestic DJs including Eliot Ness, Milla Lehto, Indigo, Casper and several more. Mr.A acquires Bar Loop

Mr.A from the Danceteria fame has taken another step on his career and recently started as a general manager of Helsinki based Bar Loop. Already having a good reputation as a small and intimate club, at Mr.A’s guidance Loop is definitely becoming the future-place-to-be.

MiscBehaving

Miscbehaving! is a new clubnight concept we are throwing in club Rosegarden in Helsinki. Each night, Misc DJ’s will invite and introduce their favorite artists to the Rose Garden crowd. Miscbehaving will be held on every month’s first Saturday.
The line-up for the first MISCBEHAVING night is now online. The mighty Rico Tubbs (aka Infekto) has invited Drumsound (UK) to headline the event. Abraham of L.A.O.S Collective will also play at the opening party. Come and check it out!

Tracklist: I Love Kiksu 4th anniversary event

I Love Kiksu was a very well organized and successful trance event – there aren’t too many of those these days. I was surprised how early the dance floor got crowded – I was expecting people to stay home longer after such a warm day, but it seems you can always trust trance fans ;)
Jokke started the night with 100% vinyl set, plenty of great oldish tracks and fresh releases. A great warmup from the guy who has been keeping the scene warm for god-knows-how-many years. It was great to get to play after him. After a couple of trys with pretty new tunes I decided to count on tracks with were a bit more familiar. Not surprisingly, a bit more technoish tracks like Boogie Nights and Surin remix didn’t go down too well, but I was happy of the reaction to the proggy and even houseish tracks like Mystify remix and Sweet Harmony re-make. It’s good to see that you don’t need 145bpm energy trance anymore in a trance event to push the spirit high and get the hands in the air. 127bpm and well fitting bassline will do just fine (Jaytech/Dinka, anyone? ;). DJ DNA finished the night well with his stage charisma and driving two hour trance set in a true I Love Kiksu stylé :)

AnjunaBeats100 tour hits Helsinki this Saturday headlining Above&Beyond with a two hour set. I’ll be warming up the main floor for two hours 21:00-23:00, after which our beloved AnjunaBeats artist Joonas Hahmo will present his Sound of Saturday. After the main act DJ Poliisi finishes the night with some psy-trancey moods.
The second room will be hosted by Flinkki, Coma, Paul Easy and Nenna & Reb.

There’s also an afterparty available for those who couldn’t get enough. Clinic “intensive care” Afterparty takes place at 05:00 in Rose Garden, offering sounds from Easy Coma, Grin & Node, Milla Lehto and me.
