KLUBIKYSELY 2012 – KATSO TULOKSET

Helmikuun ensimmäinen perjantai-ilta YleX:llä tarjoilee kattauksen uutta elektronista musiikkia nu-discosta tiukkaan tranceen ja drum’n’bassiin. Soitossa mm. kotimaiset Koobra, Tony Jaguar, Illuvial, Sampl, Hemo DJs ja Peetu S ja ulkomaanvahvistukset High Contrast, Knife Party ja Jjoo. Viikon Vinyylinä takavuosien julkaisu Paul van Dykin Vandit-lafkalta.

XmiX-dekeissä soi Suomen urheilullisin DJ-duo Something Good. Triathloneja ja maratoneja aamupalaksi naposteleva kaksikko pyöräytti XmiXiä varten erittäin kesäisen setin ja on juuri lähdössä Saksan suuntaan keikkailemaan. Haastattelussa kuullaan rasvanpolton salaisuuksien lisäksi myös Something Goodin kimppaprojekteista kotimaisen Sansan kanssa.

Tracklist: Danceteria, DTM, Helsinki, 06.05.2011

Danceteria never fails. After taking a taxi from Yle studios to DTM and driving through totally empty city I couldn’t help thinking would there be party at all going on in DTM. After all, it was the first Friday after Vappu celebrations and the taxi driver was stating that there’s no one going out tonight.

Well, luckily he was wrong. When I arrived to DTM at 00:30 the floor was full and Something Good was pounding their combination of tech-housey tunes and melodic prog tracks to an enthusiastic crowd. I started off with a bit deeper approach, moved pretty quickly to groovey tech-house tracks and dropped in some technoish numbers. DTM’s sound system is just massive and it was great to see rather minimal but groovy tunes such as Max Bett’s Different Foot make people go nuts. However, the track must have been Kaiserdisco’s brilliant Peak Tram which blew off the roof. Snare rolls are back! :)

Massive thanks to Mr.A who invited me in – it was great to return to Danceteria after such a long pause – and Heikki L, who took care of the end of the night with BIG tunes. Not to forget the people who won their Vappu tiredness and showed up – I couldn’t imagine better and more open-minded crowd as in DTM last night.

Perjantaina 18.02.2011 on YleX:llä biisivieraana Nick Warren, haastattelussa James Zabiela sekä puhelimessa Smoldering City -kuulumisineen DJ ja promoottori Jussi Soro. Suomisoundia edustaa lautasilla Sami Saari & Timo Juuti, Lenno, Chantola, Joonas Hahmo, Jay Lamar & Jesse Oliver sekä ulkomaisista Eric Prydz, Bass Kleph, Tomcraft ja Kim Fai. Viikon vinyyli soi vuodelta 2004.

Kakkostunnilla jatkaa viikottainen, tunnin mittainen XmiX-sarja. XmiX-osuudella kuullaan joka viikko Suomen ja ulkomaiden lupaavimman DJ-parhaimmiston eksklusiivisia miksauksia. Nyt perjantaina XmiX-dekit ottaa haltuun erittäin vahvasti hurjassa nosteessa oleva helsinkiläinen Something Good -duo tiukalla 27 raidan housemiksauksellaan.

Vuoden 2010 itsenäisyyspäivän illassa YleX:llä soi roima kattaus uutta elektronista musiikkia housesta tranceen ja drum’n’bassiin, päivän linjan mukaisesti kovalla kotimaisella painotuksella. Lautasilla kotimaisista mm. Sami Saari, Michael Cassette, Something Good, Muffler, Top Billin’ -labelin uutuus Adam Bozzettolta sekä Iio, Kosheen, Ben Preston, Solarity ja Jon O’Bir.

This Friday: UU Island @ Uunisaari, Helsinki

This Friday sees one of the most interesting club concepts in Helsinki in a while. Mysterious UU Theory brand puts up a party in Uunisaari, lightens up the whole island, throws in a full scale fireworks show and gathers together a club full of music enthusiasts.

The lineup includes me, Heikki L, Something Good boys and Tim & Tom. In case you missed it, the event also had a different but very fresh trailer and UU guys joined Heikki L and me in the studio and asked us to deliver a track for the night, which will see a full scale premiere at the club.

It’s Taiteiden Yö on Friday so in case you’re around, come join the fun. As I’m writing this, there should be still some tickets available. And for those of you looking for free-of-charge fun, the fireworks craziness starts at 22:00 and will be fully visible next to Uunisaari on Kaivopuisto side.

Exotic end-of-the-summer: 90’s Vibe, 10000 Scouts, Raving @ Hartwall Arena, Techno at a Waterpark

MONDAY-TUESDAY 2.8.-3.8.2010 – STUDIO DAYS W/ HEIKKI L

I bet it can’t get too easily as busy and exotic as this week is going to be. We started on Monday a two-day studio session with Heikki L, doing a cover/remake of an oldskool rave classic “Bizarre Inc – Playing With Knives” (video behind the link & embedded below). Feeling the early 90’s vibe? In addition to updating the rave piano riff to 2010, we also learned those dance moves, dressed up like MC Hammer and watched all seasons of Melrose Place.

WEDNESDAY 4.8.2010 – PLAYING AT 10000 PEOPLE SCOUT CAMP / JAMBOREE

On Wednesday, 4.8, I’ll head to the woods of Hämeenlinna where over 10000 boy- and girlscouts are having the biggest scout camp in Finland. The camp ends on Thursday and on Wednesday night there’s a biiig party where I was invited. In addition to me, Jangler from Ylivieska.org will take care of the breaks and beats. This must be among the most exotic gig experiences and I’m really excited to get there to enjoy the camp atmosphere and rave with the mosquitoes. THURSDAY 5.8.2010 – ASSEMBLY RAVE @ HARTWALL AREENA

The exotic vibe continues on Thursday @ Helsinki’s Hartwall Areena. There’s an annual Assembly demo party, a demoscene and gaming event (see wikipedia), which gathers around 5000 attendees every year. I’ve never been in the middle of 5000 people madly excited about computers – which sounds like a crazy amount of glowing screens and endless sound of tapping keyboards. Where’s the survival guide?
For those needing a well earned break after sitting the whole day at their computers, there’s a three day rave party starting on Thursday at midnight. I’ll be starting the event full-on right after midnight, warming up the floor for DJ Proteus, who never needs any kind of a warm up ;) Thanks to Pasi @ Sequence for the invitation, let’s rave until the blue screen appears! FRIDAY 6.8.2010 – BASS ATTACK @ VAAKUNA, MIKKELI

On Friday I’ll head to Mikkeli, which itself is exotic enough to fit to this week’s theme. The nice possé from Guru entertainment have been organizing a summer club @ Vaakuna and I’ll be headlining on Friday with a proper 2,5h set. The event will be held at Vaakuna, Facebook event is here. It’s actually my first visit to Mikkeli ever, looking forward to see the city and the nightlife. Come drop by if you’re around.

SATURDAY 7.8.2010 – FANTASIA @ TROPICLANDIA WATERPARK, VAASA

The travel continues on Saturday to Vaasa to finalize the exotic week with some über-exoticness. Fiksaatio possé have been doing some great parties during the past years, not only in Seinäjoki, but also in nearby cities and pulled some well earned attention towards them. Now, to end a memorably hot summer in Finland, Fiksaatio organizes a massive party “Fantasia” in a local spa/waterpark Tropiclandia with 15 top-class DJs and live acts (Alex Kunnari, Joonas Hahmo, Flight, Syna, OlliS, Ville Lope, Sami Saari…), 32C heat and a vibe to remember. Needless to say, the event is definitely something unique in the area and definitely worth checking, I’m really happy to have a possibility to be part of it.
